100 Days / A Preview
I’ve been wrestling with the thought if I should leak out a little of my 100 Day project publicly, but since I feel my tumblr must be revived with some sort of post to keep it going, here it is. This is the result of swollen thumbs sharpening away ten 2HB’s to produce a ball full of pencil shavings.
The concept? My class and I have been challenged in our Integrated Design II class to do a creative process repeatedly for 100 days. As an overly ambitious artist (in which I believe my brother and I inherited that from my mom), I was crazy enough to think and perform the creative process of covering a styrofoam ball with something everyday for 100 days. The pencil shavings is Day 3.
I have regretted it a couple of times, yes, but looking at the photograph of each level the ball has gone through (it’s been 19 days. Yup, it’s growing.), I think my hard work is paying off! Ah yes, and that is the satisfaction of the artist. Raising a glass to a work well done and sitting back to relax after 100 days of labor. But…unfortunately I can’t do that yet. I plan to compose all of these photographs into a book, in which has the potential of being in my art portfolio. I’ll be happy to share that with you too :)
Also, any ideas of what to cover the ball with is very much appreciated. I need at least 80 of them and anything will do! A friend even suggested that I cover it in meat. Not bad.
